Meet the team: Heidi Sidoti
If you’ve stayed with us before, you’ve no doubt crossed paths with the lovely Heidi whose warm and welcoming presence always makes our guests feel at home. She has a diverse background in hospitality and retail and a great eye for style that she brings to The Atlantic. Having been with us for five years, Heidi is part of The Atlantic DNA. Hear about what she loves most about working at The Atlantic and living in Byron…
You have a diverse role at The Atlantic, what does this involve?
For the most part of my working week, I am on the front office reception team and the other ‘hat’ I wear is as a visual merchandiser which is pretty much making sure the property looks great and that our owners, Kimberly & Stephen’s vision is being realised. I liaise with Kimberly on furnishings, artworks, guest equipment etc. She is so talented and has such great vision, I love our meetings. I also take care of our little Atlantic store in reception, sourcing, buying and product development.
What was your background before joining The Atlantic?
I moved my life from Sydney to the Byron Shire around 22 years ago with my two beautiful children. My background is in the food service industry, fashion and homewares in buying and wholesale/retail sales. I worked in all of these industries whilst my children were young, always gravitating to smaller family run businesses. More recently, before The Atlantic, I worked for a local fashion brand in wholesale/retail sales and design.
What do you love most about working at The Atlantic?
My co-workers. I am fortunate to work with a truly beautiful bunch of people from all over the world and totally different career backgrounds. We support each other always in creating a super relaxed environment for our guests to enjoy.
What is your favourite thing to do in Byron?
Honestly, it’s just wandering through our gorgeous gardens at Atlantic. I love the peace and tranquility. We have a fantastic gardener (Mick) who, alongside our awesome night manager (Des), put their hearts and souls into creating and maintaining this little oasis. A walk through Broken Head reserve and a swim afterwards rate pretty highly too…always give me nature.
Top picks for places to eat and shop in the area?
In Byron, breakfast at Bayleaf and shop at Nikau
In Bangalow, eat at Corner Kitchen and shop at Our Corner Store
Favourite quote/life motto?
It’s hard for me to choose a favourite quote of all time because life is ever changing but for today I choose this one; “Be yourself, Everyone else is already taken” – Oscar Wilde
